DCYSA Code of Conduct

DCYSA Code of Conduct

Always keep the best interest and well being of the children as the highest priority.

In both victory and defeat, the behavior of the coach, parents, and spectators shall model grace, dignity, and composure.

Stress fair play and good sportsmanship whether winning or losing. During the game, coaches and parents/spectators are responsible for the sportsmanship of your players. If one of your players is disrespectful, irresponsible or overly aggressive, the player must be taken out of play at least long enough for him/her to calm down.

During the game, coaches are also responsible for the conduct of the parents/spectators of the players. It is imperative to explain acceptable player and parent/spectator behavior. Spectators are encouraged to applaud and cheer for good plays by either team.  It is unacceptable for parents/spectators to yell at players or referees.

Don't run up the score.  There are ways to keep a score reasonable if teams are greatly mismatched ( e.g. move stronger players to goalie, defense or sideline, or team rule that team must complete 5 passes before taking a shot on goal).

Coaches, parents, and spectators shall model inclusive behavior, actively supporting cultural diversity while opposing all types of discrimination, including but not limited to racism, and sexism, at all levels of the game.

All individuals responsible for a team and all spectators shall support the referee.  No one, except designated player captains, is to speak to the referee during or after the game.  The only exceptions are when a coach requests substitutions, to point out emergency situations or injured players, or to respond to the referee if addressed.

Absolutely no disputing calls, during or after games.  No yelling at the referee EVER, and no criticism, sarcasm, harassment, intimidation, or feedback during or after games.

Violaters may be ejected and are subject to league disciplinary action by the DCYSA Board.  DCYSA will investigate and respond to all incidents.

Issues and/or feedback regarding referees can be reported to the Referee Assignor, Terri Congleton @ Dcysa.referees@gmail.com.
